Biography

Alex joined the York Trials Unit in 2017, after completing undergraduate and postgraduate studies at King's College London and The University of Sheffield respectively. He has experience providing statistical support in a range of areas, including smoking cessation, orthopaedic surgery and diagnostic accuracy studies.

  • ACTIVE - A RCT assessing the effectiveness of internal plate fixation versus external fine wire fixation for the management of Type C, closed pilon fractures of the distal tibia
  • BAY - An RCT investigating behavioural activation for moderately to severely depressed young people in CAMHS settings
  • ComBAT - Community-Based Behavioural Activation Training for Depression in Adolescents: Randomised Controlled Trial (RCT) with Economic and Process Evaluations
  • FARSTER-Care - An RCT investigating whether, following cardiac surgery with full median sternotomy, an accelerated cardiac rehabilitation pathway will lead to improved patient outcomes and is cost effective compared to the usual timing of cardiac rehabilitation.

  • REDUCE - A pilot study of the effectiveness of an intervention to prevent diabetic foot ulcer recurrence
