Allyson said:It is such an humbling honour to be recognised among talented individuals from all universities across the UK, and I am grateful for the opportunity to not only have been considered and shortlisted in such high stakes and to have subsequently received this prestigious award. It motivates me to continue striving for excellence, to keep the needle moving forward through my mentorship alliance for future nurses. I am truly grateful for this honour and will carry it with me forever as a reminder of the impact that resilience, dedication, teamwork and perseverance can have on achieving success.”

Becky won two categories:  Student Nurse of the Year: Adult and Student Nurse or Midwife of the Year: Clinical Research. The judges said of her clinical research award: “Rebecca is an outstanding winner who exemplifies the vital role of research in nursing. Her deep understanding of the clinical research landscape is grounded in core nursing values and enriched by meaningful experiences with patients and their families. A passionate advocate for evidence-based practice, Rebecca is also a dedicated mentor—encouraging students and colleagues alike to explore the world of research. As she so powerfully puts it: "Nursing wouldn't be a profession without research." A true role model and a guiding light for the next generation of nurses and midwives.”

Becky said: “I was incredibly surprised to have been shortlisted for the SNTAs, but winning two categories was truly surreal. I have hugely enjoyed the work and projects that I have been involved in that led to these, and whilst I never expected any recognition, it was nice to have my work recognised. I am very grateful for the support and encouragement that I’ve had during my programme and am now looking forward to qualifying.”

Head of Department, Professor Kate Flemming said: “We were thrilled to hear that Becky and Allyson won their nominated categories. The work they have done in their individual categories is outstanding and deserves to be recognised. Our team at York are passionate and proud to be educating outstanding nurses and midwives for the future.”
