Health Sciences' staff scoop two teaching awards

Congratulations to Kate Rudd and Professor Martin Bland who both received awards at the annual University of York students' union (YUSU) Excellence in Teaching and Supervision awards.

Kate, who teaches on our undergraduate nursing and Specialist Skills Post Registration Development programmes, won the ‘Taught Supervisor of the Year’ award. This award received a high number of nominations and one of the nominees said: “Kate has not only pushed us beyond our academic boundaries, helped develop our professional identity, and been a key facilitator of our learning, but she has also challenged our ideas and inspired us as people.”

Professor Martin Bland, who teaches Understanding Clinical Statistics and Measurement in Health and Disease to our postgraduate students, received a ‘Highly Commended’ in the category of ‘Inspirational Lecturer’ and his nominee said: “He is humanistic in his approach, kind and considerate to the complexities of knowledge.”
