New study days for practice and community nurses

A range of one-day study days has been set up as part of our new practice and community staff nurse: work based induction programme. As part of this programme students can choose eight topics from the list below.
In addition, these study days are also open to those who have been working in clinical practice for some time and wish to refresh their knowledge and skills in one or two specific areas.
Topics include:
- An introduction to cervical cytology and sexual health
- ABPI assessment and compression bandage therapy
- An introduction to diabetes in community care
- An introduction to COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
- An introduction to asthma
- ECG intepretation
- Establishing cardiovascular risk (CHD (Coronory Heart Disease) and community)
- Motivational interviewing
- Dementia care
- Palliative and end of life care
