Congratulations to PhD student , from the Mental Health and Addiction Research Group, who has been awarded the 2013 Fred Yates prize. The award is conferred annually by the Society for the Study of Addiction (SSA) to early career scholars who make a 'significant and specific contribution to the work of the addictions field'. Professor Simon Gilbody, who supervises Jaime, comments “Jaime is an exceptional PhD student. His work has taken an important area of practice and policy for the NHS and looks at common mental disorders such as depression and anxiety, and how these co-exist with addictions. His work for his PhD has already generated an impressive five peer review publications and the award of the Fred Yates prize is richly deserved.”

Professor Hilary Graham, Head of Department in Health Sciences also congratulated Jaime and says “This is an example of what we do well in the Department of Health Sciences. We work with senior clinicians to help them develop as first class researchers in order to produce research evidence that informs NHS practice and policy.”
