Randomised Controlled Trials in the Social Sciences: Communicating about trials to wider audiences Seventh Annual Conference

The conference will be held on 24th, 25th and 26th September 2012 in the ARRC Building at the University of York and is jointly organised by Professor David Torgerson (University of York, York Trials Unit, Department of Health Sciences), Dr Catherine Hewitt (University of York, York Trials Unit, Department of Health Sciences) and Professor Carole Torgerson (Durham University, School of Education).

There is a workshop on 24th, with the conference starting at 9.00am on Tuesday 25th September.

This conference aims to:

  • Facilitate sharing and collaboration between academic disciplines in this area
  • Discuss the opportunities and challenges of communicating information about trials to wider audiences

Call for Abstracts

Abstracts are now invited for refereed oral and poster contributions relevant to RCTs conducted in the social sciences, in particular to the communication theme of the conference. Abstracts should:

  • Follow a structured format - such as Introduction, Methods, Results, Conclusion
  • Be no longer than 250 words, excluding references
  • Include no more than three references

This year the planning committee will award prizes for the best contributed presentation and for the best poster.  The prizes will be presented by the keynote speaker.
