Profile

Biography

Rob is a PhD researcher within the Public Health Nutrition team at the University of York. He has recently joined the NIHR PHIRST REACH team, which evaluates public health interventions to generate evidence on their implementation, effectiveness and impact. Rob has a strong interest in reducing inequalities and improving health outcomes through complex systems approaches to public health, nutrition and school food. He previously worked on the free school meal auto-enrolment workstream of the FixOurFood research programme.

Rob is also a Communications and Policy Officer at the Association for the Study of Obesity, and a Registered Associate Nutritionist. Before joining the university, Rob worked as a Senior Research Assistant at Northumbria University on several nutrition and inequality-focused projects, including an evaluation of the Family Gateway project aiming to reduce youth reoffending in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Research

Overview

Rob is broadly interested in improving health outcomes through systems and policy change. He is also interested in the wide impact of food insecurity, from individual households to the wider community and healthcare system. Alongside public
health research, Rob has an interest in dietary interventions to improve health outcomes.
