Emily is a Research Fellow in YTU and currently works on the Horizon Scanning workstream within the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Research Support Service (RSS) National Collaborative. Her work involves monitoring emerging developments and innovations in research methods.
Prior to this, Emily worked across a range of health and social care research, using mixed-methods approaches to develop and evaluate complex interventions. Her previous research has included work in dementia care and mental health, as well as studies exploring human-animal interactions and their potential impact on health and wellbeing. She has also contributed to the NIHR-funded SCEPTRE programme, which focused on smoking cessation and relapse prevention for people with mental illness.
Emily is a Research Fellow with expertise in mixed-methods and has an interest in the development and evaluation of complex interventions. Her research to date has focused on the development and evaluation of interventions to support health and wellbeing within vulnerable populations (particularly people with dementia and people with severe mental illness). Emily is also very active in contributing to the Human-Animal Interaction research theme, focusing on human-animal interactions and human health and wellbeing, with a special interest in mental health.

Emily is involved in various interdisciplinary research projects on human-animal interactions in health
