CfP: 'Resilience, Renewal, Recovery'

Posted on 9 May 2021

The University of York's Centre for Eighteenth Century Studies and the University of Melbourne's Enlightenment, Romanticism and Contemporary Culture Research Unit is excited to reveal a call for papers for a postgraduate conference this summer.

The University of York's Centre for Eighteenth Century Studies (CECS) and the University of Melbourne's Enlightenment, Romanticism and Contemporary Culture (ERCC) Research Unit invite postgraduate students to join this year's virtual conference, taking place on 15th and 16th July, 2021.

The eighteenth century saw the emergence of countless new discoveries, social trends, and creative movements, but how did such changes come about? Out of what hardship and disaster were they born? And how do these struggles define the impact of such discoveries? Maintaining a poignant relevance to contemporary challenges, this conference seeks to uncover narratives, impacts, and experiences in relation to the theme of 'Resilience, Renewal and Recovery', shedding light on how unconventional, unexpected, and unprecedented situations have the potential to bring about remarkable change.
