Biography
I am a PhD student affiliated with the Macroeconomics/Finance research cluster, under the supervision of Professor Neil Rankin. My research focuses on monetary economics, particularly on price stickiness and the transmission mechanism of monetary policy in developing economies.
Before joining the University of York, I worked for the World Bank and International Food Policy Research Institute in Bangladesh and Rwanda. I hold a Masters degree in Economics from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from North South University, Bangladesh.

Thesis:
Prices are empirically found to be sticky for many advanced economies, which ensures non-neutrality of monetary policy. For developing economies, studies on price stickiness and monetary policy are scarce, owing primarily to lack of data. As developing economies are usually characterised by high inflation and uncertainty, it is reasonable to expect that prices are less rigid in these economies. In addition, the structural features of developing economies are different from advanced economies, which makes it likely that the price-setting mechanism and conduct of monetary policy are dissimilar to advanced economies. The purpose of my thesis is to study the stickiness of prices and the transmission mechanism of monetary policy in developing economies.
