Profile

Biography

Willis is a PhD student in Economics at the Department of Economics and Related Studies (DERS), supervised by Paulo Santos Monteiro. He holds a BSc degree in Economics from Universidad del Atlántico and MA degree in Economics from Universidad del Norte both in Colombia. He also holds a MSc degree in Public Policy at the University of Auckland from New Zealand (First Class Honours). His research interests are sovereign debt, macroeconomics, VAR models, fiscal and monetary policies. He is currently a Graduate Teaching Assistant in DERS and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Health Economics (CHE). 

Before coming to York, Willis worked for more than eight years for the Colombian Ministry of Labour, where he worked as an applied economist for several offices, such as employment, pension, and training for work, among others. In parallel to his professional experience, Willis taught several modules of basic macroeconomics, microeconomics, international finance, international business, and public policy at Universidad Militar Nueva Granada, Universidad de La Salle, Universidad del Atlántico, and Universidad Reformada in his natal Colombia.
