Work, gender, and witchcraft in English households, c. 1560-1660

This paper looks at the gendered allocation of work on the farms and smallholdings of rural England focusing especially on food production and processing. Reading witchcraft accusations from the same period, it suggests that this division of work can be usefully related to the skewed gender ratio among suspects.
