Twelfth Night is a play about gender, about doubling, about the expressions and suppressions of love and about the imperative to survive. Come along to this free talk and explore some of its textual detail, and its history in print and performance with Professor Helen Smith to enhance your enjoyment of the production at Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre.

Professor Helen Smith is Professor of English and Head of the Department of English at the University of York. She publishes and speaks widely on women’s writing and on book history in the early modern period and she founded the Thin Ice Press at the University.
