Overview

Paven is  a PhD student under joint supervision of Simon Duckett, Jason Lynam and John Slattery in York and Rinaldo Poli in Toulouse.

As part of the CCIMC ITN network, the project aims to gain insight into the mechanisms of catalysis involved in the asymmetric hydrogenation and transfer hydrogenation processes. Specifically, to understand the role of the base in the hydrogenation of prochiral polar substrates. In York, the transient organometallic species present during these catalytic cycles will be studied using advanced NMR, supplemented by high-level computational studies using density functional theory.
