Speaker(s): Abdul Hakim Hashemi Hamidi
In the past decade Abdul Hakim has been involved in social development programmes at Simorgh Film Association of Culture and Art in Afghanistan. He has produced films, TV series, and plays with a focus on women and human rights.
In his talk, Abdul Hakim will discuss how to achieve social change through youth outreach; creating local artistic groups that use theatre as a means to communicate across cultural barriers; and how to promote peace and mutual understanding through these means. He will talk from his experience in organising workshops and educational theatre for capacity building, and for the promotion of human rights, democracy and elections.
Abdul Hakim is currently a visiting fellow on the Protective Fellowship Scheme for Human Rights Defenders at Risk.
The talk will be followed by a Q & A session.
