Who's at Risk?

  • Stress is capable of affecting anyone if the level of pressure becomes too great for an individual to cope with, and this level will vary from person to person
  • Staff in the Department at particular risk include:
    • members of staff who have less control over their work activities or future development
    • those with repetitive or potentially boring jobs
    • those responsible for achieving results, reaching targets and meeting strict deadlines e.g. Researchers / Line Managers  / Academic Group Supervisors
    • users of computers for prolonged periods of time- the health hazards (including mental stress) from use of computers is well known and needs to be managed by good job organisation (e.g. frequent breaks, task rotation)
