Risk assessments for visitors
Research grant applications
When staff apply for a grant they must complete a form for the HoD outlining the proposed work. The form includes a safety section that the academic must complete.
Special taught courses run in the Department by individuals connected with the Department
Such courses might be special techniques courses, maybe run for an organisation or connected with a scientific conference. The organisers of such courses must provide the DSA with a full course outline, samples of all safety instruction and a brief assessment (using General risk assessment form (MS Word 
, 24kb)) of significant hazards before the course takes place.
Visiting workers, student placements, vacation students, etc.
The academic supervisor must complete a brief safety assessment before they start regular work.
A Work Experience Placement: Risk assessment (MS Word , 33kb) should be used for all Student Placements / Work Experience Placements. The General risk assessment form (MS Word , 24kb) should be used for all other visiting workers.
