Accessibility statement

During the period of time a PGR student is writing up their thesis, the Department is still required (i) to monitor the student’s engagement and (ii) to ensure the student is receiving appropriate support from his/her supervisor.

In an effort to make sure that the way we monitor these requirements is useful and time-appropriate, please note the following acceptable ways to meet our requirements during the write-up period:

  • Formal supervisory meetings: these should be recorded on SkillsForge to  fulfill this requirement.
  • 33m (3yr) / 45 month (4yr) TAP meeting: A 33/45 month meeting can be very helpful when held just prior to a student going off to write his/her thesis. However, if it is not appropriate/feasible, the supervisor should submit to the Biology Graduate School  a statement together with copies of emails confirming student engagement and progress with writing the thesis.

Of course staff and students are very welcome to continue to use the standard TAP meeting schedules if they wish to do so. More information on meeting your supervisor.
