Soil

  • Non-contaminated soil (i.e. with no chemicals or fertiliser and no restrictions on the microbes (i.e. not GMO, licenced pathogens or otherwise restricted) - can go in the black bin, landfill waste route.

  • Soil that might include proprietary fertilisers/chemicals can also go in the black bin, landfill waste route.

  • If the soil is contaminated with microbes (GMO, licenced pathogens or otherwise restricted) then the soil should be autoclaved. Small amounts may be autoclaved in the central A&G facility. Large volumes of soil should be autoclaved in the horticulture facility after discussions with the Horticulture Manager, Jason Daff.
