Reporting health problems from latex glove use

  • Early identification is crucial and may prevent more serious effects.
  • Employees must ensure they immediately report any symptoms that may be related to latex allergy to their line manager and the University Occupational Health Adviser (OHA).
  • They will be requested to make an appointment with the OHA for assessment.
  • The OHA may, in some cases, also refer them for further assessment by the Occupational Health Physician.
  • If latex sensitivity is suspected the individual will be referred to the GP for confirmation. Depending on the severity of the allergy, the individual and the manager will be advised accordingly.
