What is contained use?
The GMO Regulations 2000 define 'contained use' as any activity in which:
- organisms are genetically modified or
- GMOs are cultured, stored, transported, destroyed, disposed or used in any other way
for which physical, chemical or biological barriers, or any combination of barriers, are used to limit their contact with, and to provide a high level of protection for, humans and the environment.
