Shaping research culture: the Postdoc Voice
We run a flagship, catered event where we hear feedback, experiences, challenges and opportunities surrounding postdoctoral Research Culture from a stellar line up of speakers, with support from BRIC.
We address:
- How the University and department support professional and career development
- What postdocs see as Research Culture and exemplary or improving practices
- Career avenues for postdocs (Teaching, Industry, TF, Professional services)
- Pathways to Promotions for postdocs
- Networks for postdocs
This is an important forum for engagement and sharing best practice that applies to all postdocs - we also want to hear from postdocs and research support from across the Faculty of Science. All are welcome.
Postdoc networking
The date of our next postdoc networking event is 10:30am - 12pm Tuesday 20 September. We will be celebrating Postdoc Appreciation Week...there will be pastries!
National Postdoc Appreciation Week
The next National Postdoc Appreciation Week (PAW) is scheduled from Monday 19 September to Friday 23 September 2022.
Buddy scheme
New postdocs have the chance to meet a postdoc colleague from the Department for support and guidance whilst setting in. Get in touch via biol-postdoc-society@york.ac.uk if you are interested in the scheme.
Annual meetings
We aim to hold an annual end-of-year meeting, attended by the Head of Department and Chair of the Research Committee. Postdocs awarded summer student schemes present their findings.
Due to the pandemic, both the annual meeting and summer student schemes were cancelled. The next annual postdoc meeting is tentitively scheduled for December 2021.
