Nina Sundstrom

Nina is a psychology undergraduate at the University of York currently in her final year of an integrated masters in Neuroscience and Neuroimaging. Music has always been a keen interest for her, growing up with a training in classical and choral singing and, since coming to York, she has made a name for herself in the local open mic scene. Nina plans to combine her passions in the next year through the study of neural mechanisms of pitch processing using Magnetoencephalography methods. This will involve exploring whether pitch is perceived from a time-based autocorrelational model, or if place-related mechanisms based on the tonotopicity in the cochlea are more likely to be employed when listeners judge pitch intervals.
