Candidates are expected to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements, claiming reimbursement after interview.

Where possible candidates should be assessed on a remote basis, reducing the need for candidates to incur expenses. Candidate expenses will be reimbursed from the central budget where the guidance on remote selection methods has been followed.

The central budget will pay:

  • for UK travel for candidates travelling more than 20 miles to attend interview
  • for essential accommodation and meal expenses
  • up to £1,000 per position towards air travel for academic vacancies
  • up to £250 per position towards air travel for research, teaching or support vacancies

Departments will need to pay any additional costs. Our payment of these expenses is subject to the conditions of our policy on interview expenses.
