About the campus

The Heslington campus is split into two halves: Campus West (the original campus, laid out in the 1960s) and Campus East (a new development, open since 2010).

Campus West contains the original college buildings. These mixed-use buildings are home to student accommodation, academic departments, teaching facilities and bars and cafes.

Key buildings on Campus West include the University Library, Central Hall and the Information Centre.

The Computer Science buildings on Campus East

Campus East is split up into self-contained complexes for departments and student accommodation. The Ron Cooke Hub provides a focal point, with meeting rooms, exhibition space and a cafe and the Piazza building has a 350 seat restaurant and access to flexible learning spaces.

We also have a smaller City Centre Campus at the King’s Manor in the centre of the city, home to the Archaeology department and the Centres for Medieval Studies and Eighteenth Century Studies.
