Shared parental leave
Shared parental leave
During your leave
Your line manager will make reasonable contact with you during your Shared Parental Leave which may be to:
- Discuss whether or not the planned date of return is likely to change or has changed
- Discuss any flexible working arrangements that would support a return to work
Your line manager should ensure that you are kept informed about changes at work during your leave, particularly if any of the changes will directly affect your job or career development.
Shared Parental Leave in Touch Days (SPLIT)
Parents are entitled to work during ShPL without bringing the period of leave to an end. Each parent is entitled to work for up to a total of 20 days each. These are in addition to the KIT days available to a birth parent / designated primary adopter or primary parental order parent during Maternity / Adoption Leave. Once a birth parent / designated primary adopter or primary parental order parent has ended their Maternity / Adoption Leave any days worked must come out of the SPLIT entitlement.
