Frequently asked questions

What if I don't think the workplace is safe?

The health and safety of our staff, students and visitors is of paramount importance. Whilst the legal guidelines around Covid-19 have been lifted, the University continues to take precautions and encourages members of the university community to follow guidance that brings collective benefit. If you have any concerns, then speak to your line manager in the first instance or contact the Health and Safety team.

What support is available for my wellbeing?

The University's employee assistance programme, Health Assured, is available to all staff. You can contact the service for support and advice about any issue, including anxiety about Covid-19.

You can also find helpful resources on the Health and Wellbeing pages.

You are encouraged to talk to your line manager about any wellbeing concerns.

Do I have to work on campus or can I work full time from home?

Under the remote working policy there is an expectation that colleagues attend campus for a minimum of one day per week (unless the nature of your role requires a more frequent presence on campus). If you have concerns about working on campus due to Covid-19 it is important to raise these with your line manager.

What if my childcare provider, or child's school, has to temporarily close due to a covid 19 outbreak?

If your childcare arrangements are temporarily unavailable, speak to your line manager about the best way to manage this. If it is an emergency situation the most appropriate leave arrangement would be special leave.
