The University of York offers an annual number of places to undergraduate students at the Summer Schools below. Students in the final year of their degree programme are not eligible for these opportunities.

Basic tuition fees are waived under our reciprocal exchange agreements, unless otherwise stated and additional courses/places may not be covered. You would need to budget for international flights, accommodation, medical expenses and living expenses.

Aarhus, Denmark

Aarhus University, Denmark

Programme: AU Summer University 

Duration and Dates: 2 July -19 July or 22 July - 9 August, depending on the course you attend it can last 1-3 weeks.

Places available: 12 places available.

Cost: Tuition fees are waived, you will need to budget for international flights, accommodation, medical and living expenses. 

Accommodation: Aarhus University Housing offers accommodation to international students participating in AU Summer University, but cannot guarantee housing for all participants.

Hong Kong

Chinese University of Hong Kong

Programme: International Summer School

Duration and Dates: July and August sessions, depending on the course you attend it can last 2-4 weeks.

Places available: TBC.

Cost: Tuition fees are waived, you will need to budget for international flights, accommodation, medical and living expenses. 

Accommodation: Double or triple occupancy rooms on-campus are guaranteed for summer school participants.

Beijing, China

Peking University Summer School International, China

Programme: PKU Summer School International

Duration and Dates: 3-14 July 2023 (Session A) and 17-28 July 2023 (Session B), each course lasts 2 weeks (2024 dates TBC)

Places available: 4 places.

Cost: Tuition fees are waived, you will need to budget for international flights, accommodation, medical and living expenses. 

Accommodation: Limited on-campus accommodation available.

Renmin University of China

Programme: Renmin University International Summer School

Duration and Dates: 3-26 July 2023, each course lasts 3 weeks (2024 dates TBC)

Places available: TBC

Cost: Tuition fees are waived, you will need to budget for international flights, accommodation, medical and living expenses. 

Accommodation: Limited on-campus accommodation available.

 Seoul, South Korea

Seoul National University, South Korea

Programme: SNU International Summer Program

Duration and Dates: 24 June - 27 July 2024, each course lasts 4 weeks

Places available: 3-4 places.

Cost: Tuition fees are waived, you will need to budget for international flights, accommodation, medical and living expenses. 

Accommodation: Limited double occupancy on-campus accommodation available.

Medical requirement: You will need to provide SNU a recent chest X-ray or PPD test to show you do not have tuberculosis to be accepted on the summer school. This test is at your own cost.

Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

Programme: NTU GEM Trailblazer summer programme

Duration and Dates: 26 June - 27 July 2024, 2 and 4 week courses are available.

Places available: TBC

Cost: Tuition fees are waived, you will need to budget for international flights, accommodation, medical and living expenses. 

Accommodation: Double occupancy on-campus accommodation is available for summer school students.

Singapore Management University

Programme: SMU Global Summer Programme (GSP), consists of three tracks: Digital Intelligence, Asian Insights and Sustainable Futures.

Duration and Dates: 24 June to 19 July 2024 (4 weeks)

Eligibility: Open to all UG students from any department.

Places available: up to 5 places available for York students.

Cost: Tuition fees are waived. You will need to budget for international flights, accommodation, medical and living expenses. 

Accommodation: students are responsible for sourcing and arranging for their own accommodation. Further advice about possible accommodation providers can be found here.

Tohoku University, Japan

Programme: Summer programmes in Japanese language or Science and Engineering

Tohoku University Japanese Program (TUJP)

Tohoku University Engineering Summer Program (TESP)

Tohoku University STEM Summer Program (TSSP)

Duration and Dates: Early July to Early August, 2 and 4 week courses are available.

Places available: Acceptance on to the programme is decided by Tohoku University.

Cost: Tuition fees cost 80,000 - 150,000 JPY (approx. £430-£830). As well as tuition fees, you will need to budget for international flights, accommodation, medical and living expenses. 

Accommodation: On-campus or hotel accommodation is available for summer school students.

Mahidol University, Thailand

Programme: Get involved with ongoing research projects at Mahidol, such as Sustainable Agriculture in Tropical Ecosystem, and Environmental Sustainability. Mahidol research project programme leaflet (PDF , 766kb)

Duration and Dates: There are no set programme dates. Students decide when and how long they would like to spend at Mahidol to participate in the ongoing research at MUKA (Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus), with a clear research proposal. 

Eligibility: The research projects are open to UG, PGT and PGR students, from any department.

Places available: up to 5 places available for York students.

Cost: Tuition fees may be waived. You will need to budget for international flights, medical and living expenses. 

Accommodation: Mahidol University offers complimentary basic accommodation in a shared room, upgraded accommodation is available at an additional cost.

British University Vietnam 

Programme: Integrate yourself into the vibrant Vietnamese culture and dynamic business landscape by exploring Vietnam's industries, communities, history, culture and cuisine.

Duration and Dates: 3 week or 4 week programmes are available between the end of May and early July.

Eligibility: The research projects are open to UG students from any department.

Cost: The 4 week programme fee is £1,356 (plus £870 for accommodation). The 3 week programme fee is £1,050 (plus £652 for accommodation). You will need to budget for international flights, medical and living expenses, visas and personal expenses. 

Accommodation: The accommodations fees mentioned above refer to a double/triple occupancy room. Prices for a single room can be sourced from British University Vietnam, and depend on availability.
