Profile

Biography

Petal is a Research Fellow in the Mental Health and Addiction Research Group at the University of York's Department of Health Sciences.

Petal has been involved in a variety of studies including interventions targeting the interface between substance use and HIV, exploration of substance use among pregnant women, treatment service quality, alcohol policy and other substance-related interventions situated within health care settings. Most recently her research has focussed on alcohol prevention in pregnant and lactating women and alcohol-related trauma and injury surveillance in South Africa prior to joining the University of York.

Petal has a keen interest in healthcare provision and health and wellness more broadly and recently in the development and delivery of technology-driven solutions to healthcare needs.
