University of York hosts BAICE 2018 Conference

Centre for Research on Education and Social Justice (CRESJ), hosted the 2018 conference for the British Association of International and Comparative Education (BAICE) on 12-14 September at the University of York.

CRESJ members, Dr Eleanor Brown (Lecturer) and Emma Jackson (Ph.D. researcher) were the conference’s chair and co-chair. The theme of this year’s conference was Comparative Education and Development Alternatives: Critiques, innovations, and transitions, and saw participation from across CRESJ.

Professor Vanita Sundaram led the sub-theme of “intersectional inequalities and social exclusion,” and Dr Eleanor Brown led the sub-theme of “social movements, indigenous knowledges and collective learning.” Several CRESJ Ph.D. students--including Caroline Casey, Julio Rivadeneira-Barreiro, Sihem Salem, and Erin Shannon--presented posters or talks on their thesis research.
