Covid update summary:
Protect. Respect. Be kind.

Remembering that we’re a community built on values of respect, fairness and compassion, we’re asking students to show York spirit and respect to others.

Read the Vice-Chancellor’s recent message about continuing with Covid-safety measures on campus, such as wearing your face covering, testing regularly and telling us if you’re isolating, plus getting your booster vaccine.

1. Want to live on campus next academic year?

Applications for students wanting to live on campus for 2022/23 are now open. Take the hassle out of sorting a room but, hurry, as these rooms are very popular! Apply for campus accommodation next year.

2. Develop your academic writing and improve your marks

Work on your academic writing skills with a series of Academic Skills Community workshops starting this week. We’ll be focusing on how to produce structured pieces of reflective writing and how to use feedback to improve your marks. Book your place on the academic writing workshops.

3. Make Time to Talk

Thursday 3 February is Time to Talk Day, a day when everyone is encouraged to talk about mental health. The more conversations we have, the more barriers we can break down, helping to end the stigma that many people can feel about mental health problems. Find tips on starting conversations and see the support you can access.

4. Celebrating LGBT+ History Month

To celebrate LGBT+ History Month, we’re hosting a range of events and activities to raise awareness of the LGBT+ community’s history, lives and experiences in education, culture and society. See LGBT+ History Month events and activities.

5. Design the new David Kato College shield

Be part of history! Enter our competition to design the shield for our new David Kato College, opening in September. You don’t have to be a budding graphic designer to enter - from draft ideas to a completed design, we’re interested to see your ideas. Find out about David Kato and enter the competition.
