Exceptional circumstances
Read the recent update on changes to the exceptional circumstances affecting assessment policy and the approach for self-certification for the 2021-22 academic year.

1. Renting and living in the private sector

If you've never rented a property before or arranged your own accommodation, or just want to know more about what to expect, join Second and Third year Mentors (STYMs) at a housing information session on Thursday 11 November to get tips and ask questions. There is also support from the Student Hub and York Law School. Register your place at the ‘Before you sign’ session.

2. Normalising conversations about race

The University's Student Expert Panel invites everyone to attend their first 'Middle Ground' event on Wednesday 10 November, focusing on issues faced by Black students, normalising difficult conversations and encouraging individuals to understand and recognise different perspectives. Book your place at the Middle Ground event.

3. A chance to experience India

Add an international study component to your degree and apply for the next International Study Centre in India in March 2022. Called ‘Modern India vs. Historical India’, the course includes classes on business, politics, culture, history and religion, and features excursions to Bangalore Palace, temples, ashrams and the Taj Mahal. No prior knowledge of the subject is needed and there are a limited number of scholarships available to help with costs. Application deadline: Friday 26 November 2021. Find out about the International Study Centre in India.

4. Do you live at home while you study?

We know each year over 300 new students choose to live off campus at 'home' with family, a partner, friends or alone. Some live in York and others are spread across the region. We also know local and commuting students face different challenges to students living on campus so find out more about support for students who live at home, including joining our Local and Commuting Students Facebook group. See our support for different student communities.

5. Thinking about further study?

Chat with staff and current students at our Postgraduate Online Open Days on 16-18 November to discuss courses, hear guidance on the application process, and discover what funding opportunities could be available to you. As a York graduate, you could be eligible for a York Graduate Loyalty Discount. Find out about further study at York.
