Coronavirus: update summary

Apply to the Emergency Student Support Fund
The Emergency Student Support Fund (ESSF) provides short-term financial support for the unanticipated needs of students caused or exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Apply for a maximum of £500 of non-repayable funding to cover things like living costs, accommodation, and study-related costs. Hurry - the Fund closes on Tuesday 27 April.

Coming out of lockdown
Many of us are looking forward to reconnecting with friends and re-engaging with activities that we have been missing out on over the past months but, for some, the easing of lockdown restrictions may cause stress and anxiety. Read our advice on helping yourself to ease out of lockdown, which also includes links to Togetherall’s ‘Managing social anxiety’ self-help course.

1. Roses Unlocked

The annual sporting varsity between York and Lancaster is going ahead this weekend in a new format. Roses 2021 will see digitally-assisted fixtures and a Pentathlon Team event. YUSU is streaming events live at outdoor venues so you can watch with your friends and cheer on York. We won last time in 2019 - will we be victorious again? Find out more about Roses 2021.

2. Turn your business idea into reality

York Venture One provides financial resources to take a business idea from concept through to early stage investment. Designed to facilitate the development of a minimum viable product (MVP) or the gathering of evidence of market demand, Venture One is a pilot initiative offering between £5,000 to £10,000 as either advance subscription or seed funding. 3. Without a family network?

Support is available to students who have no communication with their biological or adoptive parents, including a dedicated Student Hub adviser, access to a bursary, and opportunities to meet other people in a similar situation. If you consider yourself to be estranged and would like to know more about the support available to you, please complete this short form.

4. Sign up for the Great York Walk

The Great York Walk is back and ready to support mental health causes at York and beyond. Sign up for free as a household, sports club, society or student group and clock your steps up to help travel 25,000 miles - the distance of a walk around the Earth! Support Mentally Fit York and sign up for the Great York Walk.

5. Find out about postgraduate study at York
