Coronavirus: update summary

Lockdown easing in England
People can now meet in groups of up to 30 outdoors and six people (or two households) can meet indoors. Pubs and restaurants can serve food indoors and museums, theatres and cinemas can open. Please remain considerate of others and remember, you must still socially distance and wear a face covering in shops and shared study spaces on campus. Take a look at our hints and tips for easing yourself out of lockdown.

1. Looking after yourself during the assessment period

It has been a tough year and as we enter into the exam and assessment period, it is even more important to look after your wellbeing. Find out about sources of help and support - it does not have to be face-to-face or a phone call as services are available via text, web chat or email.

2. New support to help you connect with others

We know how important it is for you to feel connected to others on your course. We also know that studying online has made it more difficult for some of you to make these connections. Departmental Community Coordinators (DCCs) are new paid student roles working in departments/schools to support building academic and departmental communities. Find out more about how Departmental Community Coordinators can help you.

3. Enhanced security when using e:Vision

From Tuesday 18 May onwards you will need to use two-factor authentication (2FA) to log in to e:Vision, the online student records system. If you have already registered for 2FA (for example to access services like the VPN and Virtual desktop) then you're all set but, if not, you’ll need to register your device. Find out more about two-factor authentication.

4. Funding for student projects

YuFund gives grants to developmental and community projects run by student clubs and societies, departments and colleges, with the aim of enhancing the student experience at York. Application deadline: Friday 11 June. Find out more about YuFund.

5. Join intercultural sessions with students from Hong Kong

Global Opportunities is hosting an intercultural exchange project in which students from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University and York will get to know each other’s culture. Find out more and apply for the virtual exchange.
