Coronavirus: update summary

Don't take Covid home with you
If you're travelling to another part of the UK for the Easter break, get two tests (three days apart) before you leave York.

Apply to the Emergency Student Support Fund
Apply for a maximum of £500 from the Emergency Student Support Fund to cover unanticipated costs caused or exacerbated by the pandemic. In this round of funding, we particularly welcome applications from students facing financial challenges due to paying rent for private-sector accommodation. Hurry - the Fund closes tomorrow (Tuesday 16 March).

1. Academic skills: Easter online workshops

Continue developing your academic and communication skills over Easter with our series of online workshops. Whatever your current level of study, our workshops are here to help you. Sign up to just one session or all. See the Easter academic skills workshops.

2. Funding for personal and professional development

Seen a development opportunity but need funding to realise it? The York Futures Scholarship provides funding of up to £6,000 for work experience, study abroad, placements, and extracurricular learning opportunities. All students can apply, though preference is given to students from certain backgrounds - check the eligibility criteria. Find out more about the York Futures Scholarship.

Global Opportunities is also offering scholarships for virtual international internships over the summer. Application deadline: Wednesday 31 March.

3. Find out about postgraduate study at York

Thinking about your next step? Join one of our student-led online chats to find out more about postgraduate life at York. Ask our current students your questions and hear about their experiences of studying on a postgraduate course. Book your place on the next student-led chat on Thursday 25 March.

4. Volunteer with York Nightline

York Nightline is a non-judgmental confidential listening service for students, by students. If you’re interested in volunteering with York Nightline (and you’re not in your final year), join a York Nightline training taster session this week. You don’t need previous listening experience as all training is provided.

5. Census 2021: What you need to know

The census is an important survey about all the households in England and Wales and you must complete it by law. Whether you're in campus accommodation, in a shared house, with your parents, or are an international student – you must complete the census for your normal university address.
