Coronavirus: update summary

Apply to the Emergency Student Support Fund
The Emergency Student Support Fund (ESSF) provides short-term financial support for the unanticipated needs of students caused or exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Apply for a maximum of £500 of non-repayable funding to cover things like living costs, health-related costs, accommodation, travel expenses, and study-related costs. The Fund closes on Tuesday 16 February.

Student Connect
Covid has made it difficult to meet new people and form connections so we’ve launched Student Connect. Tell us a bit about yourself and we'll match you with another student. Fill in the form and start to connect.

1. One Planet Week

Centred around the theme of Culture and Community, we have a mix of educational, enlightening and practical activities to get involved in for One Planet Week. We tackle questions such as how can communities tackle climate change at both global and local scales? Take part in our prize draw competition by posting a photo of your sustainable culinary skills (recipe and cooking demo provided), so check out our calendar of One Planet Week events.

2. Which academic skills do you want to develop?

The Academic Skills Community is planning next term’s workshops so now is your chance to let them know what you want! Is there a particular topic you want a workshop on? Are there some resources you'd love to see but have been overlooked?

3. Eat happy - with pancakes!

Cooking together and sharing a meal can do wonders for your mental health - and pocket. Why not make pancakes for Pancake Day on Tuesday 16 February? Read our recipes to help share mealtimes and then share with us your household’s culinary creations using the #UoYwellbeing hashtag! Find out how to eat happy.

4. Find out about postgraduate study at York

Thinking about your next step? Join one of our student-led online chats to find out more about postgraduate life at York. Ask our current students your questions and hear about their experiences of studying on a postgraduate course. Book your place on the next student-led chat on Thursday 18 February.

5. UoYTips: Sharing large files

Have something to share that’s too big to email? You can share files up to 32Gb using the DropOff Service. Find out more about DropOff. #UoYTips
