Coronavirus: update summary

Covid testing
All students (and staff) making use of University facilities can and should take rapid results Covid-19 tests twice a week, three days apart. This is now very easy with home testing kits available, which you can collect from pharmacies and test centres or have delivered to your home.

1. Mental Health Awareness Week

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week and the theme this year focuses on the role nature can play in protecting and supporting our mental health. See our top tips on bringing nature into your everyday and sign up for events to mark the week.

2. Sign up to be a student buddy

Could you be a friendly face and help next year’s new students settle into university life? Being a student buddy is a great way to give something back by supporting students while developing your skills and having fun. Application deadline: Friday 14 May. Find out more about applying to be a student buddy.

3. Nominate for the Student Volunteering Awards

Our Student Volunteering Awards celebrate the achievements and lasting impact of student volunteers. You can nominate yourself or others to recognise contributions made to the community. Find out more about student volunteering and complete the Volunteering Awards Nomination Form by Sunday 16 May.

4. Find out about postgraduate study at York

Thinking about your next step? Join one of our student-led online chats to find out more about postgraduate life at York. Ask our current students your questions and hear about their experiences of studying on a postgraduate course. Book your place on the next student-led chat on Thursday 13 May.

5. York Festival of Ideas bookings now open

Attend over 150 free events at York Festival of Ideas including talks, panel discussions, performances and walking trails. The programme includes a special tenth anniversary celebration day on Monday 7 June featuring economist Mariana Mazzucato, epidemiologist Kate Pickett, children’s author Michael Morpurgo, and a new piece by composer and violinist Anna Phoebe exploring women’s creativity.
