Coronavirus: update summary

On Monday 22 February the Prime Minister announced the Government’s roadmap to ease restrictions in England. However, we are still in lockdown and we all still need to follow the rules: stay at home except for shopping for basic necessities, work, exercise, seeking medical assistance or attending education.

1. Support for mental health and wellbeing

To mark University Mental Health Day on Thursday 4 March, we’re pleased to confirm that a full team of Student Wellbeing Officers are now in post. The Student Wellbeing Officers are part of a more collaborative approach, with practitioners working closely with academic departments to support students. 2. Design the new Anne Lister College shield

Be part of York’s history and enter a unique competition to design the shield for the new Anne Lister College, opening September 2021. We’re looking for draft ideas or completed designs. Submit your design by Friday 23 April. Find out more about the Anne Lister College shield competition.

3. Help with report writing

There is a bumper week coming up in the Academic Skills Community with lots of great workshops to help you navigate academic hurdles. This week is the last of our Writing for Science sessions, examining writing reports and dissertations in the sciences. There are also sessions on wider topics to help with active critical reading and writing in the passive voice. See what’s on this week.
