Coronavirus: update summary

Covid-19 vaccination clinic on campus in June
There are plans for a pop-up Covid-19 vaccination clinic on campus in mid June. Please complete the vaccine pre-registration form with your york.ac.uk email address to help us plan.

1. Could you help welcome our new students in September?

Enhance your CV and meet new people by volunteering to play a key role in welcoming new students this autumn. STYCs (Second and Third Year Contacts) and STYMS (Second and Third Year Mentors) are essential to helping new students settle into life at York. Application deadline: Friday 11 June. Find out more about the roles.

2. In your final year? Get digital skills for employment

Digital Skills for Employment is a two-day event (7-8 June) to support final year undergraduates as they transition into the digital workplace. With workshops from recent graduates, employers, and the Teaching and Learning and Careers teams, develop confidence in skills from data management to digital creativity. Book for individual sessions or sign up for both days.

3. In your penultimate year? Apply for the early bird York Award

The York Award is a formal award of the University that demonstrates to employers that you have taken a proactive approach to life at university, and recognises personal and professional development within and outside your programme of study. Penultimate year students who intend to apply for graduate training schemes in the autumn can now apply for the early bird award. Find out more about the York Award.

4. National Volunteers’ Week

It’s Volunteers’ Week 2021 and Careers and Placements are celebrating the incredible contribution of our students with the Student Volunteering Awards. See the award winners and their achievements on the @UoYVolunteering Twitter feed this week. Applications are now open for volunteering roles in the summer vacation which can help you to gain work experience, boost your CV and grow your networks. Check out all volunteering opportunities.

5. Thinking about further study?

Come to the Postgraduate Virtual Open Day on Wednesday 9 June to speak with departments and current students and find out more about postgraduate study at York. Book your place at the Virtual Open Day.
