Welcome to your taught postgraduate student news summary of key things happening this week.

1. Get that dissertation done!

Our Writing Centre tutors offer one-to-one online or in-person appointments to help you with any dissertation questions you may have. They can look over a piece of work (up to 1000 words) and offer advice on argument, structure, and language.

You can also work on your writing and critical thinking skills with our upcoming online Academic Writing, Critical Thinking and Editing and Proofreading workshops – free for all students.

2. Analysing data or using statistical software?

The Maths Skills Centre offers one-to-one statistics appointments if you have any questions. Book an online or on-campus statistics appointment or email maths-skills-centre@york.ac.uk to arrange an appointment at a time that works for you.

3. PREVIEW: Take a sneak peak at Check-In

We’re introducing a new student digital engagement tool - Check-In - in September and we’re looking for current students to help us test it and give their feedback. Sign up for our online session on Monday 21 August by emailing vanya.gallimore@york.ac.uk. It’ll last one hour and all participants in the session will receive a £20 voucher as a thank you for your time.

4. Get 24/7 support

It’s getting to be a critical time of year for postgraduate taught students and we know sometimes campus can feel quiet outside of term time. Get 24/7 support by downloading the TalkCampus app for free with your uni email address. TalkCampus supports 26 languages so you can talk with other students from around the world about the ups and downs of student life.

5. Nisa Kimberlow refurbishment

Nisa Kimberlow will be closed from 14 to 19 August for refurbishment. See full details of campus outlet summer opening times.
