Posted on 22 November 2021

Welcome to your student news summary of key things happening this week.

Covid update summary:
Protect. Respect. Be kind.

Don’t take covid home
If you’re leaving York for the winter break, make sure you don’t take covid home. Plan how you will test yourself before you leave and collect testing kits from college receptions to test yourself before you return to York.

1. Are you planning to stay at uni over the winter break?

Holiday Connect helps you meet people also staying at uni for the vacation. Just like Student Connect, Holiday Connect makes meeting people as easy as 1,2,3 and we’ll even provide an activity pack and treat to help you get to know your match. Sign up for Holiday Connect before Sunday.

2. Be a good neighbour

Most students who live off-campus do so harmoniously with their neighbours. But excessive noise at un-neighbourly times, and failing to deal appropriately with waste bins and parking have all caused problems that result in complaints to the University from local residents. Find out more about being a good neighbour, including support for you if your neighbours are causing you problems.

3. Get free high-vis kit and bike lights

Claim free high-visibility vests, bike lights, and 'slap wrap' arm reflectors! The Travel and Transport Team are giving away high-vis kit on Thursday 25 November at the Field Lane crossroads between Campus East and West between 4-6pm. Find out about the Light up, be seen and be safe campaign.

4. What have you achieved this term?

The last wellbeing workshop this term focuses on recognising your self worth. Join College Life Advisers in a relaxed environment to help you reflect on your achievements this term. Sign up for tomorrow’s workshop.

5. University life with type 1 diabetes

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust wants to hear from students about their experience of diabetes care while at university. Share your experiences in a short survey.
