Will talks to people about where they live their senses of belonging at a local and regional scale (specifically the level of a 'peri-urban' village, the wider urban area and relevant local authority). He also looks at regional planning processes with an interest in the impact of decentralisation policies, such as the Localism Act (2011), on the disputes between local authorities, developers and community groups that arise in these processes and how all these might be linked to what people say about where they live locally.
More widely his research interests are in urban and community studies, ideas of place, space and belonging, along with theories of class, and political sociology.
