Biography

Maisie Wilson joined the Department of Sociology in 2025 as an ESRC-funded PhD researcher supervised by Dr Edmund Coleman-Fountain, Dr Silvia Falcetta and Dr Mary Laing. Her research explores how single-sex charities do (or don't do) inclusion for gender diverse folk.

Alongside her studies, Maisie works as the LGBTQ+ Lead at Kyra Women’s Project, a York-based women's charity; and is a trustee of York LGBT Forum. She holds a Masters in Environment and Social Justice and a First-Class BA (Hons) in Criminology. Her wider interests include feminist and queer research methods, grassroots community organising, and knitting.
