After BA degree in South Korea, Hyangmi had work experiences in education, film subtitling, and hospitality industry. During the work experience in hospitality industry, she found her academic interests in communication. The interests in communication led her to study MA course. For MA dissertation she analysed political speeches of British and American political leaders. Employing Conversation Analysis, she explored the political speakers’ verbal and nonverbal techniques in their political speeches. The study inspired her to carry out PhD research in cultural and linguistic differences in interaction between a speaker and audiences in political speeches.
She has research interests in verbal and nonverbal interaction in communication, intercultural communication, persuasion, leadership, and charisma in oratory.
