Biography

Holly began her PhD in 2025 funded by the White Rose Doctoral Training Partnership. Her research focusses on the gendered commodification of rest, specifically how rest has become a consumable service within the wellness industry through products such as meditation apps and soundbaths, and how these are uniquely marketed towards women.

Her research is supervised by Emma Casey and Em Nicholls. Prior to completing her PhD, Holly was an A Level Sociology teacher and a Social Researcher in the private sector. She completed her MA in Sociology and Social Research at Newcastle University in 2020.
