Emma Collins

Profile

I joined the University of York in 2016 for my undergraduate degree in Sociology. I stayed in the department to begin my PhD in 2020. Originally motivated by my own disability, my research focuses on adulthood experiences of ‘mild’ Cerebral Palsy. I am using narrative methods to better understand the relationship between impairment and disability, and the psycho-social and physical experience of CP beyond childhood and paediatric care.

I have been a GTA for the undergraduate module ‘Introducing Social Psychology’, and I am soon to be a GTA for the module ‘Cultivating a Sociological Imagination’.
