Biography

  • PhD in Sociology – Ongoing – University of York.
  • MA in Social Research – Distinction – University of York.
  • BA Sociology Hons – First Class Honours (With Distinction) – University of York.

I first graduated from the University of York as an undergraduate on the BA Sociology Hons programme (2011-2014). Before completing my final year, I was awarded the Bridge Scholarship (2015) for the MA in Social Research in the Department of Sociology. While completing this programme I secured Economic and Social Research Council (+3) funding for a PhD in Sociology (2015-2018) supervised by Dr Merran Toerien and Dr Steph Lawler. In my thesis I use Conversation Analysis (CA) to investigate how social class is occasioned in naturally-occurring forms of talk-in-interaction. Alongside my PhD, I am involved in both basic and applied forms CA research.
