Abril Rodriguez Vasquez

Profile

Abril joined the PhD programme at the Department of Sociology in January 2020 under the supervision of Dr Amanda Reese and Professor David Beer. Her research focuses on the generation, social scope, and potential for dissemination of scientific knowledge, specifically the one being done by the research centres of the Mexican Council for Science and Technology.

Previously, she worked as an advisor to the Mexican Commissioner for Migration and before that as chief of staff to the President of El Colegio de la Frontera Norte, the leading Mexican research centre for migratory flows and cross-border studies. In addition to this, she collaborated in the Protocol Office of the University of Salamanca and has taught at the undergraduate level for the last eight years.

  • Master of Science and Technology Social Studies, Universidad de Salamanca, Spain

  • Bachelor of Communication with a speciality in Institutional Interaction, Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, Mexico.

Teaching

Abril is currently a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Sociology, teaching Introduction to Sociological Theory.
