Secondary headteacher, improving the life chances of students in challenging circumstances

Skills I use and how I developed them

Human Resource leadership, Data analysis, school improvement developed through working in inner city northern high schools and through a sheer will and determination to do the best I can for the pupils whom I teach.

What I like most

Working with the students and providing a school experience which challenges and interested them; making sure their life chances are improved.

What I like least

Having to deal with people who don't enjoy teaching.

What surprised me most

The resilience and capacity of young people; they will always surprise you no matter how much belief you have in them.
