Further study within Cultural Heritage Management
Why I continued studying
I wanted to pursue a course in Cultural Heritage Management to sensitise persons from all over the world to see and enjoy our rich heritage after we were granted World Heritage status.
What my course is like
Visits to heritage and historic sites, class room assessments, group presentations, interactive tutoring sessions and hands-on practical, formative and summative assessments.
How I have funded my studies
I borrowed funds from the Student Revolving Fund in my country.
What I like most
The professional tutoring by all the lectuers
What surprised me most
I never knew that such a course would have given me the opportunity to do a practical conservation course.
My career goals when I graduated
My career goals when I graduated was to pursue Law to be able to write Heritage Protection Laws and to share all the knowledge I gained from York with my fellow-country men.
My career history
My career has tremendously progress as other Caribbean territories are requesting my cultural heritage skills to improve their heritage stock.

Courses taken since graduation
I am a 2nd year Law Student and the knowledge that I have gained so far is giving me the understanding on how I can prepare a legal drafting for the protection of heritage.
How my studies have helped my career
My studies at York have given me the opportunity to develop new writing skills. These skill that I have acquire has given me the opportunity to present law effective law arguments and as well has given me the edge in effective legal drafting. During my first law year at University, many lecturers did inquire of where I gained this academic strength from. I was always quick and still do even to this day, speak highly about the good teaching of York.
What surprised me about my career so far
I am surprise that my career is taking me to new levels each day
Where I hope to be in 5 years
My hopes for the future is to become a Heritage Consultant, and as well to use one of the courses that I was taught at York, Practical Building Conservation, to restore and introduce the construction of natural buildings for the new UK Heritage-looking tourism buildings.
My advice to students considering further study
You should first critically research your area of choice and as well inquire within your respective countries as to whether that specific programme can be of benefit to the country. You also need to be aware if there are available jobs that you will be able to fill.
Other advice
Always remember that the University of York is the number one preferred choice of study. Please also bear in mind that it is the number one university in the UK. Work hard and let York continue to be number 1.

Should the communities have a say in the development of cultural heritage management in their respective areas. Should all Governments pass laws to compulsory claim all Listed I and Listed II buildings.
